2.0 VAG PPD 170 BMN Siemens custom tuning

The PPD BMN is a very tuneable engine, but due to the lack of experience from many tuning companies with Siemens ECU controllers a lot of these vehicles never reach their full potential.

ECU tuning:

ECU tuning on these models is a little more tricky than models with Bosch ECU controllers but with the right know how these can be tuned to a very high level.

We use winOLS to find and define all maps before modifying. (See below for some examples).

These models also run very late injection timing (to help with DPF regeneration) but without it, the start of injection (SOI) can be increased substantially, just this small tweak even without increasing fuel request, or boost you can feel more torque and enjoy more better MPG.

Turbo boost can be raised safely, and with the right fuelling you can achieve around 220 BHP if

the vehicle is healthy. (The BMN 2.0 PPD's come with a GT1749VC turbo, that is very reliable (at least in comparison to come other turbos like the ones found in the 140HP models with BKD engine code).

The DPF isn't SUPER restrictive when healthy, but as these vehicles getting closer to 15 years old now, they often are partially or fully blocked.

Removing the DPF by DPF gutting, or fitting a downpipe will allow you to make the tuning much more rich (which can result in a little smoke output but for some the extra power is worth it).

The DPF, EGR and Swirl flaps can all be removed and disabled in the ECU's strategy if you are having issues with them then can simply be disabled and the car will run as normal.

Intake manifold:

The plastic intake manifold that these models come with have a common issue and frankly its a serious concern (the swirl flaps break off and get sucked into the engine!) - The best way to combat this, is changing out the intake manifold and swapping for one from a 2.0 16v 140BHP model with BKD engine code.

The original PPD BMN intake / inlet manifold has a pneumatic swirl flap actuator (that can be unplugged and the vacuum line can be blocked with a bolt if required) - No tuning is required.

Additionally you can just swap out for the BKD manifold, it will stop any risk of the swirl flaps getting sucked into the engine!

We have everything required to make over 300 BHP with these models safely, for any further information please don't hesitate to contact us via email Sales@Dieseltuned.co.uk
