Remapping guide how it works.

Your ECU has ROM (Read only memory) The information stored in the ECU's ROM never changes, these are programmed at factory.

The ROM file contains blocks of information or "maps" that are instructions for the ECU. These instructions tell the ECU how to control parts of the engine including fuel injectors, fuel pump and turbocharger.

Using professional tools the ROM file can be read from the ECU, and with some practice the desired maps can be found within the ROM file and significantly improved.

We now have full control over things like injection timing, fuel pressure, and charge air pressure (turbo boost).

Once these changes have been successfully made using professional software, we can use the tools to "re-flash" the ECU, then after the new software is installed on the vehicle its time to test it and log the vehicle.

Datalogging is a essential part of tuning, thanks to OBD2 and the CANBUS system many parameters can be read from the vehicles current sensors.

So for example, if we request a longer injection duration, and more turbo boost pressure we will then test the vehicle and use equipment to measure live data to ensure the requested values are being met.

On CR engines (Common rail) It's important to log rail pressure (you want to make sure the rail pressure is being met.

In regards to turbo boost, we check to see if the requested level are being met, and make sure there are no under-boost or over-boost issues, other information such as exhaust gas temperature, intake air temperature and many more can only be monitored for safety
